Safe Environment Requirements

All St. John of the Cross Parish volunteers who serve with children and/or youth are required to complete each of the following:

Compliance Requirements for Employees & Volunteers
1. CANTS 689
2. Archdiocesan Standards of Behavior (ASB)
3. Criminal Background Check (CBC)
4. Protecting God’s Children (PGC)
- Keeping the Promise Alive (KPA)
5. Training Bulletins
6. Mandated Reporter Training (MRT) & CANTS 22-Acknowledgement of Mandated Reporter Status
To be completed by those who serve with children and/or youth

First, you need to create a VIRTUS Account. This is where all of your Safe Environment requirements are tracked. Register online at www.virtus.org. You will be asked for primary location, please choose Parish, NOT school. If you already have an account please add SJC Parish as another location and choose your role accordingly.

• Hard copies of the CANTS 689 Form should be returned to Theresa Reyes at the Parish Center Office or you may email signed documents       to her at treyes@discover-motors.com
• Archdiocesan Standards of Behavior ASB – Signed Online in your VIRTUS Account
• Criminal Background Check (CBC) – Rechecked every 3 yrs.  - Be sure to complete all steps
• Protecting God’s Children (PGC) – Recertification required every 3 yrs.  Online Training Session assigned in your VIRTUS account
- Keeping the Promise (KPA) – Is the Recertification program to PGC that provides ongoing awareness for the prevention of child sexual abuse. Done online through VIRTUS
• Training Bulletins are assigned once a month through your VIRTUS account. You must read and correctly answer the question at the end of the bulletin to complete the requirement.
• Mandated Reporter Training (MRT) – Recertification required every 3 yrs.

Print and submit your Certificate of Completion to Theresa for entry into the VIRTUS system.
• CANTS 22 Acknowledgement of Mandated Reporter Status – Return to Theresa Reyes
